Concord’s Dead Disc is Now a Collector’s Goldmine

From Trash to Treasure: Concord’s Dead Disc is Now a Collector’s Goldmine

Think a game disc is doomed once the servers are shut down? Think again. Concord, Sony’s team-based shooter for the PlayStation 5, might be dead after just two weeks of online life, but its physical discs are anything but worthless. Just last week, you could snag a copy for $40, but now? You’ll be lucky to find one for less than $100!

That’s right—Sony pulled the plug, but collectors have turned this once-forgotten game into a hot-ticket item. According to a detailed Ars analysis of nearly 300 eBay listings from September 3 to 8, the median sale price for a new PS5 copy of Concord shot up to $100. Prices even peaked at $118 on September 5, before stabilizing around $110 a few days later. Not bad for a game you can’t even play anymore!

So, what’s driving this bizarre price spike? It’s not about playing the game (since, you know, you can’t). It’s all about scarcity. GameDiscoverCo analyst Simon Carless estimates Concord only sold about 25,000 copies across PS5 and PC, and with most of those being digital downloads, the physical disc count could be in the single thousands. That makes it one of Sony’s rarest first-party titles. And since Sony stopped selling Concord on September 3, those numbers aren’t going up.

If you’re one of the lucky few who bought a physical copy, you might’ve been tempted to follow Sony’s advice and ask for a refund. Bad move. Those who held on to their copies and flipped them on eBay are raking in profits—some sellers even scored nearly $500 for a sealed disc on September 5. Even without the big-ticket sales, most listings are going for anywhere between $87 and $120. That’s a tidy 100-200% profit on a $40 investment in less than a month!
